The 4ITEGO Group has extended its partnership as the main sponsor of the Innoptus Solar Team for another two years. As a result, the engineering students of KU Leuven can continue to rely on the technology and guidance provided by group companies Innoptus and Infinite Simulation Systems as they pursue their next major objective: becoming world champions in Australia for the third time.
The Innoptus Solar Team has once again demonstrated the power of innovation, teamwork, and engineering excellence by securing second place at the 2026 iLumen European Solar Challenge on Circuit Zolder.
The Innoptus Solar Team has added a new chapter to its impressive racing history by winning the 2026 Electrek American Solar Challenge. During their first-ever participation in the prestigious North American solar car race, the KU Leuven engineering students successfully completed a journey of more than 4,000 kilometres across the United States and became the first European team to claim victory in the competition.
Xavier Werbrouck, founder of 4ITEGO Group International, will step down as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assume the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). At the same time, the Board of Directors, with the full support of Xavier, has appointed Raf Vermeylen as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Sebastiaan Vranckx as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), both effective immediately.
The Innoptus Solar Team is preparing for an exciting new adventure. In July 2026, KU Leuven students will travel to the United States for the first time to compete in the American Solar Challenge. After a strong performance and third place in Australia in August 2025, the team is determined to once again showcase the value of Belgian innovation in America. This race is not only a technical challenge but also a symbolic milestone: the Belgian team has never before started a race in North America.

Adelaide, Thursday 28 August 2025 – After five intense days and more than 3,021 kilometers across the Australian Outback, the Innoptus Solar Team proudly claimed a spot on the podium at the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2025, finishing in 3rd place.
The team has already completed an impressive journey, from route exploration and technical testing to building a strong group spirit in distant Darwin. Now the moment of truth arrives: Saturday qualification. Sunday race start. Thursday they hope to cross the finish line in Adelaide.
The Innoptus Solar Team has revealed the second major innovation in their newest solar car, the Infinite Apollo. Their latest addition, called The Bounce, introduces an adaptive ride height system - a first in the history of Belgian solar cars. With the Infinite Apollo they aim to secure their third world title at the 2025 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, a 3,000 km race across the Australian Outback starting on August 24th.
Raf Vermeylen brings extensive experience in the technology sector and a proven track record of leading successful transformations and growth initiatives. His extensive knowledge of both business operations and innovation, combined with his strategic vision, make him the ideal candidate to lead Innoptus in the next phase of its development.

To achieve this goal, a brand-new solar car will be developed entirely from scratch. The team looks forward to once again pushing the boundaries of what is possible and competing with the best teams in the world.
During the race, the team also broke the daily distance record twice, an incredible achievement in this prestigious competition. With over 4,000 km covered across South Africa's challenging landscapes, this victory is the result of months of hard work and strategy.
